End of a Run
Journal Entry: Tue May 27, 2008, 3:16 PM
The start of a journey is without comprehension of its complete distance. After completing it, it is quite hard to recall the entirety of what you've really just done. Only near the end can you fully appreciate the feeling of exhaustion to understand how far you've come and where you've been, what you've seen.
I hear nothing because the wind is rushing all around me. I have to laugh because now matter how much it hurts I can still move. I've reached one of those special moments in a runner's life that tell me I'm ready to commit the rest of my body to finishing the race. There is no longer any doubt, there is no fear, there is just the end. The end is the place to show whether you've still got anything left after getting so far, its the the time to see how strong your will is versus the physical limitations of the world. All of your choices become simplified into to do or not do, to be or not to be. Its here that I'm proud to say I choose to be.
There is something special about a finish line, even if you're not the first one across. It motivates us no matter how it appears to us in life... whether in work, school, or a physical end to a journey. Seeing it helps define a purpose for ourselves: it gives you something to do, to look forward to, to fear, to enjoy, to feel relief. All of these feelings are the outpourings of our souls... its beautiful.

You have to look within yourself to save yourself from your other self. Only then will your true self reveal itself.
